It is my belief that Evolution occurs in all things (or at the very least, in all things that are subject to change) - most observably in the realm of the mind, where the ongoing struggle for the survival of ideas ultimately decides the fate of each of our own personal universes.
My halfbred mutant concepts battle it out on a daily basis - and as in nature, only the stronger ones survive to pass on their gene-like notions to the next generation of ideas. Older, nigh-immortal, institutionalised viewpoints (religion, social morality, the flawed belief that more knowledge naturally equates to more truth) are handed down to us from parents, teachers and other figures of authority - but these too must prove themselves in the hostile environment of logic, emotion, repetitive conditioning, television, peer pressures, marketing, boredom and bodychemistry.
Yet are our concepts becoming stronger? More advanced? Better? Or are our concepts arbitrarily tolerant of current environmental dangers?
I find the latter more likely - and wholly indicative of where the human race itself has landed in the evolutionary scheme of things.

I said I 'may' return to that previous post - but I totally missed my train of thought and am left waiting at the station for the next one to come along...
...besides, the words: traveled, theorized, circles and trajectories - were all spelt wrong. I suppose I could claim it was some elaborate test* - but I'm too embarrassed to even attempt such an obvious ruse.
I think I hear the next loco-motive (crazy-reason) approaching though - so please stand back from the tracks...
- Soul
* like the one I believed I was in when I was a child - where the 'real people' from the 'real world' would step out from behind some dimension cloaking curtain and take me to the universe that didn't suck.

The revolutionary universe...
we once believed the earth was flat. that the sun travelled across the sky and back underground to start it's journey again in the east the following day. that we were functionally in the middle of the cosmos, with realms above and below.
discoveries were made and discoverers were persecuted. rationality persisted and our view of the universe changed. the earth remained the middle of the cosmos for a time, but now other celestial bodies like the sun, moon, planets and constellations circled us.
that's pretty much when the whole thing began accelerating. soon we let go of the notion that we were in the middle of it all. our sun became just another star. all those stars became just other suns. we found different types of celestial phenomena - red dwarves, binary stars and black holes. we theorised about point singularities and event horizons.
the revolution came in accepting that revolution itself is the primary function of quarks and electrons and swing ball and moons and planets and stars and galaxies and possibly beyond... that we all revolve around each other in ever evolving cirles and complex curves... that we are as much centre as we are edge... rambling through the universe in seemingly eclectic tragectories of ineffable chaos...
...kind of like what i'm doing now...
(gotta work - may return to this later)

Booming discordant intro music and stirringly enigmatic voiceover:
"All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic heavy elements may not be used where there is Life. Medium atomic weights are available - Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel... Sapphire and Steel have been assigned..."

Joanna Lumley and David McCallum played the eponymous pair of interdimensional investigators charged with protecting the universe from various evil forces. Sapphire had extra-sensory powers and limited control over time, whilst Steel could reduce the temperature of objects to absolute zero and was super-humanly strong.

The special effects were deplorable, with the evil force often no more than a torchlight creeping mysteriously up the stairs or some woman with dodgy eyeliner application, but it carried an atmosphere of spooky sci-fi/horror that very few high budget shows have ever matched.
There was talk of a DVD release at some point - if you should see it somewhere, I recommend giving it a watch.

You suggest a day to see each other again. I suggest a time.
You hop into your car and start the engine. You turn and wave. I wave back.
I watch to make sure you pull out onto the highway okay.
I wonder what it would have been like to kiss you again. To hold you once more, if only briefly.
To be the guy you're driving to, instead of the guy standing out here alone.
You wanted the long slow forever and I live my life in blazing moments.
A little less bright each time.

One of lifes little ironies...
Alfred Nobel (1833 - 1896): Inventer of dynamite, explosives industrialist in more than 20 countries and patriarch of the Nobel Peace Prize.

"Although he worked for the majority of his life developing explosives, Nobel was essentially a pacifist. When, in his later years he drew up a will, he stated that he wished the majority of his nine million dollar fortune to be used to fund awards in different fields of study (Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Physiology and Medicine, Peace). He stated that the awards should be given to those who have conferred the greatest benefit to mankind.
It was five years after his death that the first Nobel awards were handed out, in 1901. The Nobel foundation had been set up to organise and structure the awards. Since their inception the Nobel prizes have come to be recognised as the highest honour a person can recieve in a particular area of study. "
(I'm sure that from certain angles this could be considered 'filler material'. Perhaps you expect justification from me? Learn to live with dissapointment...)

Somewhere out there is your soulmate - the one person who will bring you perfect love and complete your existence in every possible way imaginable.
How can people take solace in such a fucking depressing thought. There's somewhere around six and a half billion people in the world and you're gonna pin your hopes on meeting "the one"? Fuck that!
You can beat those odds people. That girl at the record shop who drops the phat tracks you wish you had the guts to ask about? She's one. The guy who you always manage to sit within perving distance of in shared lectures? He's probably one too. The random people you see on the street who catch your eye and smile? They're all prime candidates.
Love people. Love long. Love lots. Love NOW!
In the new religion: Love as thou will - shall be the whole of the law.

Although I cut down a lot on coffee (and the related sugar hit), I recently heard that coffee itself isn't so bad for you. With the chill of winter now in full swing protein shakes are a killer to get down. For the last couple of days this has been my solution:
SOLENDERS CREAMY VANILLA POWER-COFFEE!!!
Ingredients
2 heaped Tblsp 100% Whey Creamy Vanilla protein powder
100ml cold water
1 Tblsp Alta Rica instant coffee powder
400ml boiling water
Place cold water in the bottom of a large (1 pint) coffee mug.
Add protein powder and blend until smooth.
Add coffee powder and blend until smoother.
Top with boiling water and stir until smoothest.
Anyone know if I'm messing dangerously with the laws of body chemistry?
